At least four people were killed when two helicopters collided in the sky in the Gold Coast region of Queensland, Australia. 9 passengers were injured. This accident happened around two o’clock local time on Monday.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said the injured were being treated in hospital. A woman and two children are in serious condition under treatment.

It is not known why and what caused this accident. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said it would investigate the incident. The accident happened about 75 kilometers south of Brisbane.

Queensland Police officer Gary Orrell told reporters that at the time of the crash, it appeared that one helicopter was flying and the other was landing. The four killed and three injured were aboard the same helicopter. The other six injured were passengers of another helicopter involved in the accident.

Gary Orrell said it was a terrible accident. There was a lot of sand in the area where the helicopter crashed. As a result, the workers of the emergency service organizations had to find the helicopter and get the speed to rescue the injured.
